Water Pressure Problems Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at tanklessguru@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • Typical single handle shower or faucet cartridges have to be replaced every 8-10 years because of old hot water tanks collect up to 6 lbs. of toxins and sand from our water supply. The sand grands away at the rubber O-ring, located inside each shower cartridge, wearing them to the point they can no longer balance the hot and cold water pressure.
  • Every tankless system, manufactured, has a 1-2 psi pressure drop on the hot water outlet because of the heat exchanger design. This pressure delta prevent a worn cartridge from being able to balance the hot and cold pressure.

Each home should have a PRV, located in the front your flower bed,. The PRV reduces the water pressure coming from the city's water supply high pressure. Average city water pressure can be between 100-200 psi. Home water pressure should not be above 80 psi.

If your home has pressure above 80 psi it can cause many problems.

  • 1. The Culligan filter housing, that we provide on each TG Pre-Assembly Tankless System, can only handle 100 psi. Any pressure above that will crack the housing.
  • 2. Toilet valves typically are rated at 125 psi.

It is important that the homeowner check your water pressure with a water pressure gage purchased at any Lowes or Home Depot.
